How to Choose Your Sessions Unsure which sessions you want to attend? Use this guide to help you think about what makes the most sense for you on Plan Your Path Day!

Career Exploration Sessions Trying to figure out which career is best for you? Hear from industry professionals about their career, the education they needed to be successful, what they love about their job, and what advice they have for you if you choose the same career path. We have speakers from every career cluster, so find the ones that align most with your interests and strengths! Preparing for Your Future Sessions These sessions are designed to help you learn about things needed to be successful after high school graduation. Do you want to attend a 4-year college, a 2-year college, find an apprenticeship, enter a trade, begin your career in the military, etc? Do you want to pay for college with scholarships? Are you curious about how to manage your finances when you get out on your own? These sessions will help you learn about a variety of topics that will propel you into a successful future.

You will sign up for sessions during advisory. You must complete the Google Form (link provided by your advisory teacher) with your selections.

Guidelines: You will choose four sessions and three alternates. You can only attend each session one time. Some sessions are only available to certain grade levels . Pay attention to the details provided about each session.

If you do not sign up for sessions or choose duplicates, we will choose sessions for you.

You have done career education lessons during advisory to learn about your aptitudes and interests. You should consult your results!

9th graders - Look at your YouScience results. Go to your PowerSchool student portal, click on the YouScience link on the left, log in with Google, and click on Aptitude & Career Discover tile. Look at your results! 10th-12th graders - Look at your Missouri Connections results. Go to your PowerSchool student portal and click on the Missouri Connections link. Log in with Classlink. Look at your dashboard to see your results under Self-Survey results.

Career clusters are indicated by each session, so look for career speakers that align with your career cluster matches!

What education options are you considering after high school graduation?

Some sessions allow you to think about trade programs, technical schools, apprenticeship programs, college options, and the military. Find a session that allows you to get the information you need to make an informed decision. You can also choose a session you know nothing about, just to consider an option you haven’t thought about before.

What if I just have no ideas for my future yet?

Look through the session guide for anything that sparks an interest for you! Go hear about something new that you know nothing about! Think about things you enjoy doing in your free time and try to find a session that relates to that interest.

Should I explore an off-campus option? The Courses by Path & Cluster guide also shows you the off-campus options available to juniors and seniors for each career cluster. If you are interested in spending half of your day off-campus as a junior or senior, you can find options in the guide. Many of the off-campus programs will be at Plan Your Path Day, so look for sessions that you may want to check out to get more information!

CREDIT, EXPERIENCE, & PAY Internship Opportunities

46 | Getting Paid, Earning Credit & Gaining Work Experience During Senior Year Do you want to earn high school credit while working during your senior year? We have three senior internship programs that may be right for you! Come learn about SBE (business students), Marketing Work (marketing students), and CCE (everyone else)! Questions to ask: What type of job can I do and earn high school credit? How do I apply for this program? What are the requirements to be in the program? Are you interested in a paid summer internship? Come learn about how to apply, prepare for interviews, and what to expect from this internship experience. Students can earn up to $1,500 during this summer internship program and should expect to start work on June 2. 48 | Youth Apprenticeships: Jumpstart Your Career While in High School! Did you know you can start a youth apprenticeship in high school? Come learn about what an apprenticeship is, who may benefit from this training option, the process of applying, etc. This is a great way to jumpstart your career while in high school! Questions to ask: What types of employers will hire a youth apprentice? How much will I get paid to work? Why would I do this instead of just getting a job?

The trades represent the "engine room" of our economy. While many people think of trades as just manual labor, modern skilled trades are high-tech, high-precision, and high-earning careers that often require advanced certifications. This session highlights why the "skills gap" makes this one of the most stable and lucrative paths for the next generation. Questions to ask: What types of internships will be available this summer? How do I prepare to apply for an internship and interview with prospective employers? What is the time commitment for this experience? 49 | Blue Collar Gold: Navigating the Modern Skilled Trades

The A+ scholarship program provides scholarship funds to high school graduates who attend a public community college, vocational/technical school , or certain private two-year vocational/technical schools. If you aren’t signed up for the A+ program yet, this is a great chance to learn about it! Questions to ask: What are the requirements to be a student in the A+ program?
